Board of Directors Named for Xytex Research Inc.

A five-member board of directors has been named to lead Xytex Research Inc., the newest member of the Xytex International Ltd. family of services for reproductive medicine.

Board members include experts in medical research and cryopreservation as well as a former member of the U.S. Congress.  The newly appointed board members are:

Steven G. Anderson, founder, chairman, president and CEO of CryoLife, Inc., Kennesaw, Ga., brings to Xytex Research 35 years of experience in the development and marketing of implantable medical devices.  Before founding CryoLife in 1984, he was senior executive vice president of Intermedics, Inc. (now Guidant). He is a life member of the Institute of American Entrepreneurs and a member of the Association of Venture Founders.

Max Burns, Ph.D., was a professor in the College of Business Administration at Georgia Southern University and a Senior Fulbright Scholar before serving in the U.S. Congress from 2002-2005. Currently, he splits his time between his family farm in Sylvania and Washington, DC, where he works with Thelen Reid & Priest as a Senior Policy Advisor. He is also a candidate in the next election for U.S. Congress from Georgia’s new open 12th Congressional District.

Gregory M. Fahy, Ph.D., vice president, chief scientific officer and member of the board of directors of 21st Century Medicine, Inc., San Diego, Calif., is the world’s leading expert on vitrification, a form of tissue cryopreservation that is minimally damaging.  He has been awarded 20 patents and in 1995 received the Grand Prize in Medicine for organ cryopreservation from the International Patent Exposition.  He is a consultant to the U.S. National Institutes of Health and to other federal governments.

Completing the board of directors are Xytex International Ltd. President Armand M. Karow, Ph.D. and Kevin M. O’Brien, vice president of finance for Xytex International Ltd. and its subsidiary corporations.
