Patients benefit when sperm banks offer specialized products for specific infertility procedures.
Augusta, GA – When it comes to certain infertility treatments, you only need a few good sperm.
That’s the thinking behind Assisted Reproductive Technology vials, which Xytex Corporation, a Georgia-based reproductive tissue bank, is debuting this month. Only a few sperm banks offer this option for patients undergoing infertility procedures where fewer cells are needed. These procedures include in vitro fertilization (IVF), where eggs and sperm are combined in a laboratory, or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), where embryologists select and inject individual sperm into an egg.
At Xytex, each ART vial sample meets a guarantee of at least 15 million per milliliter, compared with 30 million per milliliter for samples used in intrauterine or intracervical insemination. Patients benefit since ART vials can be provided to patients at a lower cost but are still available from many of Xytex’s regular donors.
“As infertility treatments become both more specialized and more mainstream, reproductive tissue banks are following suit by offering more products to meet the needs of patients,” said Dr. J. Todd Spradlin, medical director of Xytex Corporation. “By offering numerous options, banks help patients and families make an informed decision that is right for them.”
Along with ART vials, Xytex provides patients with options like identity disclosure donors, baby and adult photos, photospans, audio files, photo matching and more.
