Leading Researchers Named to Xytex Research Board of Directors

Augusta, GA – Atlanta scientist Michael Tucker, PhD, HCLD, FIBiol, and Yale researcher Laura Niklason, M.D., Ph.D., were recently named to the Xytex Research Board of Directors.

Dr. Tucker is Scientific Director and Co-Founder of Georgia Reproductive Specialists in Atlanta. He is also Laboratory Director at Shady Grove Fertility Reproductive Science Center in Rockville, Md.; Off-site Laboratory Director at the Mississippi Fertility Institute in Jackson, Miss.; Off-site Laboratory Director at Reproductive Associates of Delaware in Wilmington, Del.; Scientific Consultant at IntegraMed America in Purchase, NY; Scientific Consultant at Reproductive Science Associates in Mineola, Long Island, NY; Scientific Director at Fertility Centers of Illinois in Chicago, Ill.; and Off-site Laboratory Director at Maine Reproductive Health Center in Portland, Me. Dr. Tucker has published more than 125 peer-reviewed papers and speaks internationally on the topic of infertility and IVF. His research interests include assisted reproductive technologies and IVF, as well as oocyte and embryo cryopreservation.

Dr. Niklason is an Associate Professor of Anesthesia and Biomedical Engineering as well as a member of the Vascular Biology and Transplantation Group at Yale University. She is a leading international figure in cardiovascular tissue engineering, and is a practicing intensive care unit physician. Dr. Niklason’s research projects involve various topics in vascular biology and tissue engineering, which include the role of gene therapy approaches in human cellular lifespan extension, the molecular drivers of vascular cell differentiation from marrow-derived stem cells, and the etiology of delayed cerebral vasospasm following subarachnoid hemorrhage. She has received continuous National Institutes of Health funding since 1995, is currently the primary investigator on three NIH grants, and holds subcontracts on several other NIH awards.
