Hi,i just wondered if you had any ideas for us…….alot of people already know that we cant use my husbands sperm because of medication he has to take. What happens when i show up pregnant? everyone knows we’ve considered adoption…..

Debbie, I carry the CF gene and my husband had a vasectomy so we chose to use a donor. At first, we too were scared about what people would think; but I could not lie to everyone I know. We had to do fertility counseling before IVF - the counselor helped A LOT!! We are not going to put it on a billboard; in our case some people know and some don’t but either way we are not ashamed of the decision we have made. Those narrow minded individuals that might question “your” decision are just that narrow minded. The decisions we have all made are our own and some were very difficult decisions to come to. If your friends or family do not respect that they have the problem not you. In the end we all have a family that we might not have without the help of Xytex and our donor. Good Luck!!

Hi Debbie, we had to use donor sperm to conceive our son. Like you, we found it VERY hard to talk about. In fact, not only does our child not know, either do many of our family or friends. I am so happy to hear this story! I would love someone to email me and tell me about their experiece with donor sperm.We are going through treatment and will be using donor sperm.Hopefully it will be happening in January.
We find it hard to talk to alot of people about who haven’t gone through this and hopefully we will speak to someone through this newsletter.
